As the voluntary deadline by the existing WRC teams for a freeze of development of their current world rally cars approached, the FIA has confirmed a wide range of homologation changes on the VW Polo R WRC have been approved.
According to the FIA’s website, homologated and effective on 1st December were transmission and engine parts, while approved in October were various suspension items, all for their Polo R WRC car. Among the items reported to have been modified are the engine connecting rods, engine and gearbox mountings, different differential ramp also tarmac and gravel wishbones.
Citroen has stated that they are making no design changes to their World Rally Car for 2014, while the only change made by Ford at this time is a new range of asphalt gear ratios. M-Sport will start the season with the same bodywork style, and hope to proceed to the next front bodywork design, as featured on the R5, as from Portugal onwards. Only Hyundai‘s i20 WRC will be really new at Monte Carlo!
