SS19 - Volkswagen lock-out on Power Stage

The second run through the Fafe stage, to Power Stage to close this year’s Vodafone Rally de Portugal, saw a familiar sight – a Volkswagen Motorsport lock-out of the top three positions.

Fastest was Sebastien Ogier, having an incredible push for the extra three points on offer for winning the Power Stage. He admitted to carrying a puncture through the final stage but he had managed to pressurise the tier to get through and back to the service park. 
 
Second-fastest was last year’s winner, Jari-Matti Latvala, claiming the two points for second-fastest while Andreas Mikkelsen took third in the stage and a single additional point.

Overall, Meeke was only eighth fastest but maintained his advantage to claim his second win of his career, ahead of Mikkelsen who stayed in front of Ogier throughout the final day. Ogier settled for third overall to add to his championship tally of points.
