Toyota gathering information in Portugal?

Following the recent testing debut of the 2017 contender from Toyota, the Yaris WRC, test driver Juho Hanninen is undertaking the pre-event recce for the 2016 Vodafone Rally de Portugal, although not contesting the event itself.

When asked if this means that he has a drive with the Toyota team for 2017, he replied that it was not confirmed. However, when subsequently asked if he was here working for 2017, he laughed and replied; “Yes, maybe!”

When asked about the Yaris, he explained; “The base is very good but we still have a lot of work to do. We need to do more testing but we are definitely moving in the right direction.”

The car is being developed by Tommi Makinen Racing, the organisation run by the former multiple FIA World Rally Championship driver and also, managing Hanninen’s recce in Portugal.
