ANALYSIS: Kalle Rovanperä Shows How It’s Done

Toyota secures fifth consecutive Constructors’ title
21 outubro 2025

Before bowing out of the WRC, Kalle Rovanperä is chasing his third world title, leaving everything to be decided in the final two rounds of the season. His main rivals are none other than his Toyota teammates. Level on 234 points with Sébastien Ogier, the generational battle is at its peak, with Elfyn Evans now leading on 247 points following an excellent second place at the Central European Rally.

One thing is certain: after securing their fifth consecutive Constructors’ Championship — and the ninth in their historyToyota has effectively guaranteed the drivers’ crown for one of its own: Evans, Ogier, or Rovanperä. Ott Tänak has fallen too far behind, and Thierry Neuville even more so.

The penultimate round of the 2025 WRC season was marked by major incidents, including crashes involving Ogier and Neuville. The Frenchman, however, made an impressive recovery with a full-attack strategy on “Super Sunday” and the Power Stage, regaining precious points. He not only topped the Sunday classification ahead of Evans and Rovanperä but was also fastest in the Power Stage, where Toyota locked out the top five times.

A spectacular crash on a bridge straddling the German-Austrian border ended Neuville’s hopes — the 2024 champion is now mathematically out of contention. In Central Europe, Ott Tänak also pushed hard but ultimately had to settle for the third step of the podium.

Heading into the final two rounds — the Rally Japan and the Rally Saudi Arabia — Rovanperä and Ogier promise another thrilling clash of generations, while Evans looks to manage the growing pressure from his teammates as he pursues his first world title.

In WRC2, victory went to Jan Cerný, as the unstoppable Oliver Solberg — already crowned 2025 WRC2 Champion — was not scoring points in this category, despite being the fastest driver among the Rally2 field, finishing nearly two minutes ahead of Cerný. The next answers will come in Japan, from 6 to 9 November.
