Maximum Safety at Vodafone Rally de Portugal

08 maio 2025

Over 2,300 GNR officers (National Republican Guard) will ensure the safety of both drivers and spectators during the Vodafone Rally de Portugal, which is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of fans to the Portuguese stages over four exciting days.

The GNR is launching a special operation called “WRC Vodafone Rally de Portugal 2025”, dedicated to supporting what is considered the biggest sporting event in Portugal. The operation will take place in two phases and aims to maintain public order, control road traffic and access to the special stages, guide spectators to viewing areas, enforce safety zones, and prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas.

The operation runs from May 14 to 18 and includes a multidisciplinary security deployment across the districts of Coimbra, Viseu, Aveiro, Porto, Braga, Viana do Castelo, and Vila Real.

As part of the FIA World Rally Championship, the event — organized by the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) — demands top-level safety standards for both drivers and spectators. In this regard, the GNR urges all fans to: follow safety regulations, remain in designated spectator zones, respect officers’ instructions, and avoid interfering in the event of an accident.

Both the ACP and GNR hope for a thrilling and safe motorsport event, showcasing Portugal as a country of order, hospitality, and world-class event organization.
