Rovanperä clinches fourth win of the season in Chile

29 setembro 2024

Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota Gazoo Racing) claimed victory at Rally Chile BioBío, marking his fourth win in seven events this WRC season. Elfyn Evans (Toyota Gazoo Racing) and Ott Tänak (Hyundai Shell Mobis) rounded out the podium in South America, but Thierry Neuville (Hyundai Shell Mobis) heads into the final two rounds with a 29-point lead...

Kalle Rovanperä has already confirmed his intention to return full-time to the WRC in 2025, and the two-time World Champion continues to cause concern for his rivals. On the tough gravel stages of Chile, under challenging conditions, the Finnish driver and co-driver Jonne Halttunen secured their fourth win of the year in what has been a partial season, with the Finnish duo having only competed in seven rallies so far.

Rovanperä beat his teammate Elfyn Evans, co-driven by Scott Martin, who finished 23.4 seconds behind the winner, and just ahead of Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja, the top Hyundai pairing.

With Sébastien Ogier having a tough rally and being forced to retire on Saturday due to a broken suspension, Thierry Neuville (4th) managed to leave Chile with a 29-point lead at the top of the championship, with only two rounds remaining.

French driver Yohan Rossel (Citroën C3 Rally2) returned to victory in WRC2, while young Paraguayan Diego Domínguez (Ford Fiesta Rally3) continued his winning streak in WRC3.

The Central European Rally will be the 12th and penultimate round of the WRC, taking place from October 17–20.
