One-minute time penalty for WRC2 leader Oliver Solberg

WRC2 leader Oliver Solberg has been handed a one-minute time penalty overnight for entertaining the crowds with doughnuts in his Toksport Škoda Fabia at the end of the Lousada special stage on Saturday evening.

The young Swede headed into the night halt with a 35.4-second lead in the category over Great Britain’s Gus Greensmith before the time penalty was imposed by the Stewards on the grounds that the driver breached Art. 12.21 of the Supplementary Regulations in conjunction with Art. 34.1.3 of the FIA’s 2023 Sporting Regulations.

The ruling states that exhibition driving is strictly forbidden at any time. The incident happened between the flying finish and the stop control of SS15.

The penalty drops Solberg to second in the category behind Greensmith.
