The Municipality of Felgueiras and the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) promoted an awareness-raising and clean-up operation through the collection and separation of rubbish on the Santa Quitéria-Felgueiras road, one of the stages of this weekend’s Vodafone Rally of Portugal.
With environmental sustainability becoming an increasing focal point at the Portuguese round of the FIA World Rally Championship – in line with FIA policies – the ACP and the municipalities involved in the rally work closely to reduce the environmental footprint of the event.
Last Friday, 50 students and their teachers from the Felgueiras Secondary School and the Professional School of Felgueiras joined representatives from the ACP and the FPAK to collect and separate waste in Santa Quitéria. This set an example that must be followed by the public at the rally this weekend.
The initiative also featured four local drivers, Hugo Mesquita, Júlio Pereira, Diego Loureiro and António Freitas, showing that race participants also have the responsibility to promote good environmental practices.
The 8.81km Felgueiras stage will be used twice on Saturday from 10.35hrs and 18.05hrs.
If you are going to attend the event, you already know – live your emotions, respect the environment.
