Car 1, Ogier/Ingrassia
“Nothing special, I just wanted to look at the tyres. This stage was in much better condition than the first one – completely destroyed. This one was very slippery – gravel on the wrong line. Tomorrow, a car or two [in front] is better but when the leader is nine cars behind, it is difficult. It's going to be tough.”
Car 2, Latvala/Anttila
“It has been a good day. A careful start and step-by-step increasing speed and attacking more and it was working well. This one – SS4 and SS7 – it suited me very well. I hope we can do the same again tomorrow – it is very important for the championship. But tomorrow will be a long day.”
Car 3, Meeke/Nagle
“We made a mistake this afternoon with the tyres. The roads are softer than we expected. They are like Greece on the second pass. None of us had experience so it was a bit of pot luck.”
Car 4, Ostberg/Andersson
“Nothing happened – I enjoyed it. I thought I had a good tyre choice in there - it was quite good. But he [Ogier] was faster. Maybe the others are faster as well. Maybe I am wrong.”
Car 6, Tanak/Molder
“From the beginning of the rally, I was very happy with the performance of the car. I am really enjoying things at the moment – not pushing too much and having a clean run. OK, I pushed the tyres a little but I am enjoying – I am happy.”
Car 7, Neuville/Gilsoul
“I had a noise in the stage and we were losing the sump guard – the rear one has gone. It was very noisy in the car but when it was gone, it was quieter. There were some big stones – maybe something hit the sump guard and bent something. We are lucky to be here.”
Car 8, Sordo/Marti
“I think four hard tyres [would have been better]. Maybe I was too soft and the tyres are completely destroyed. It is hot and the surface is hard. I am quite happy but we made a small mistake with the tyres. ”
Car 9, Mikkelsen/ Floene
“After the first stage, the car was way too low. We changed for this stage and it was better. It was a clean stage and we are driving within our limits.”
Car 14, Kubica/ Szczepaniak
“It has been a good day, from a driving point of view. All good. Apart from the puncture – I don't know what I hit but on the onboard, there was a rock in this stage on the first loop. But we can be happy for the driving and I think this has been a good day.”
Car 20, Paddon/Kennard
“I’m quite happy with the times, even the last one that was quite rough. We are reasonably quick – you benchmark yourself against the team-mate and we know there is extra in the car and of course, us. ”
Car 21, Prokop/Tománek
“On the previous stage, we had a puncture so I was being careful on this one. I tried to change something on the driving and it seems to be better, maybe. I am checking it and I hope it will improve for tomorrow.”
Car 31, Al Rajhi/Orr
“A good day today – it was OK. We can still fight. Tomorrow is a different day and we are still in the game. I hope everyone continues at this pace. I know I must carry on – try to avoid punctures.”
Car 32, Lefebvre/Prevot
“I changed the set-up before and I hurt my hand. This road is destroyed but not as bad as the previous one.”
Car 36, Kruuda/ Järveoja
“The first stage was very difficult – I was stuck behind a slower car and it is very difficult as the engine can suffer with the dust. And the FIA pop-off valve has been opening all the time.”
Car 37, Bertelli/Bernacchini
“The tyre came off the rim and at the end, it started to break up. We had another on the previous stage but I have no idea where it happened. I don't think we can reach the service but I will try to put the best of two broken ones on.” Rear Right puncture
Car 40, Ketomaa/Lindstrom
“It was very enjoyable but for some reason, the car stopped at a junction and would not start so we lost 25 seconds. So not an easy day.”
Car 41, Fuchs/ Mussano
“It is difficult on these stages for the tyre. I just want to make it back to the service park. I didn’t think the roads would be this bad.”
Car 42, Al-Attiyah/Baumel
“I think the car is better but the roads were really hard to drive. Before this stage, we had a puncture but we did a good job I think today. We will just keep going like this.”
Car 43, Tidemand/Axelsson
“It has been an exciting day. On the second pass now, we just wanted to get through – no attacks. We are happy we have finished and look forward to tomorrow. We had some brake problems earlier and some water leak but we fixed it easily.”
Car 44, Kremer/Winklhofer
“I have two punctures – one on the previous and one on this stage so not so easy. I have two spares but everything is finished.”
Car 47, Gorban/Korsia
“One more puncture. It is so bad for us – we lost a lot of time. We must now just finish. Now we have had two punctures.”
Car 49, Hirschi/Landais
“We have a real problems with the engine – the pop-off valve or something. But I hope they can fix it tonight and we can come back tomorrow.”
Car 70, Lappi/Ferm
“I am not particularly happy with the day. The first stage was OK – a bit unlucky but after that, it has been OK – we are on the pace. More to come tomorrow. The previous stage was very rough and we have a puncture.”
Car 71, Parn/Morgan
“My first day in WRC2 and with the R5 car. We were driving 100% for the finish of the first day. The pace wasn’t the best – I know I could go better but today, I think this is not the place for it. I try to build my confidence with the car and we’ll see – tomorrow it will be better.”
Car 73, Maurin/Klinger
“It was a very difficult day – we had a puncture in the last stage so with only five wheels, we had to be careful but keep good speed. We took not risks.”
Car 75, Al-Kuwari/Clarke
“This stage was OK but the previous one we had a flat tier for maybe six or seven Km. There was nothing left on the rim. But it is still a long rally – two days to go.”
